Default ActiveX problem

My computer running Windows XP 2 is down and will not start after I clicked
on the ActiveX bar at the top of the screen while searching for something on
Google.
About a minute after I clicked. popups started one after another, some on
top of others and it was impossible to do anything but click on popups to
delete them.

I ran several scans and deleted many files that the scans said were tracker
cookies and etc. Now, sometimes when I start the computer, my start screen
will come up with the wallpaper and all of the icons but will not do
anything, all that will move is the cursor arrow and no matter what I click
on nothing happends.
Thanks;

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
