I now find this suspecious file in C:\Widows\ and NOT in
C:\Windows\System32\. Is this a legitimate file or something detrimental to my Win XP Pro system? -- Wulff |

Are you experiencing problems? The file would normally be located in
C:\Windows\Prefetch. The alg.exe (Application Layer Gateway) process is part of the internet connection sharing and internet firewall components in Windows XP. Have you just installed WinXP SP2? Have you revisited Windows Update since installing it?
