Default Help needed!

My computer had a virus a few weeks ago and my father fixed it. He
re-installed all the programs. The problem is: although the video or song
plays like normal, I can't hear a thing. Also, I cannot access certain files.
Apparently, my previous XP account has been "deleted", but after clicking on
My Computer, entering the C Drive, Documents and Settings, I realised that I
could still find the account in that folder and all the documents were still
there. A file that contains very important information and a powerpoint slide
that is due in a few days is not accessible. Please help. Thanks for
everything in advance.

Welcome to the Windows Update Newsgroup, a more appropriate Newsgroup may have been
Windows XP General.

See if anything below assists, if not post to the Windows XP General Newsgroup.

NOTE: You must be logged on to the computer using an account that has administrative
privileges. If you are running Windows XP Home Edition, in order to have access to
the Security tab, you must first start in Safe Mode and log on with an account that
has Administrative rights.
