Perhaps a look at the contents of your WindowsUpdate.log file would help
diagnose the problem. Take note of the date and time prior to accessing Microsoft Update. When you receive the access denied message, close the Windows Update window and navigate to C:\Windows folder. Locate and open the WindowsUpdate.log file (where WindowsUpdate is one word in the filename). Copy the contents that reflect the date and time that you last accessed the update site and paste those contents into a reply post here.
