Default windows update/ie links not working

since about a week ago i have noticed that some of the links on the webpages
i click on but nothing happens(that happens to when i am trying to choose the
category on which updates to install) it takes a long time to load AND has a
memory leak... uses 100% of my pc most of the time so i have to ctrl-alt-del
restart. Why is that? is there any solution? plz help!!

I too would like to know the answer to that question I have restarted I bet 5
times tonight trying to update XP. I was beginning to think I had an internal
problem.

I can't do simple things in IE - like right clicking and opening things in a
new window... I get the yellow thing in the lower left hand corner... I can't
even reply on this forum from IE, I have to do it through FireFox... I tried
to run the updates manually through IE, and it instanly stops responding...
