Update freezes on shutdown
My XP Pro machine with service pack 2 has suddenly stopped being able to
install updates. It downloads them in the background when I am online but when I shut my machine down I have the little icon indicating there are updates to install. When I install them it says installing 1 of e.g. 5 and then doesn't do anything. I have tried manually installing them but it just freezes on 0% and doesn't go any further. Any ideas, regards, Chris.

It was my Norton Firewall. Disabled it and it worked fine!
