Default Unable to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

For months now I have been unable to install the update above. All other
updates, prior and subsequent, work. The error message I receive is:
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0xee0 (3808), Thread id 0x414 (1044)

Is there any way to fix this? DO I need to worry? If possible, please
respond to matoler @ earthlink . net

If you are on a domain, then contact your IT rep, If you are a home user
without a network, you do not need this install.

Thanks! I am not on a network and I've been wondering how important this is.
It appears under critical updates, but everything seems to work fine without
it.

you are welcome, you may want to see this article about which services that
can be disabled for home users.

http://www.jasonn.com/turning_off_un..._on_windows_xp

Beware that althought it states you can disable the "auto update",
"Background intell", and I think the "event log" which in my opinion should
never be disabled, you will NOT be able to do auto nor manual updates to
windows XP. the article is incorrect as to disabling these 3 services.

Also to see if it installs OK, go to the control panel then add/remove
programs, uninstall the Net frame, reboot if you have to, then re-download it
and install again. But again you do not need this for home computers.
