Win2k Professional - new Windows Update software downloaded, registered, and
then I got 0x80070002. Following the recommended steps, went to delete files
in DataStore to find that folder (DataStore) wasn't there at all.

This happen to anyone else? Any suggestions? I tried creating a new
"DataStore" folder inside C:\WINNT\SoftwareDistribution, but it still gives
me the same error after supposedly downloading and registering the Windows
update software.

I had to locate and extract the regsvr32.exe file on mine. Do a search for
this file. I had to use the advanced search options and check the boxes for
hidden file and subfolders. Uncheck the case sensitive box. If you find it,
open it. It may ask you where you want to extract it. I put mine in the
c:windows/system32 folder. Once I did that mine worked fine.

When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see the
0x80070002 error
