Please can somebody help as I am going out of my mind. I keep getting the
notiification that there are udates to be installed on my computer (running
XP sp2).

I install them and every seems to work fine - no error messgaes. However
the next day I get the same notification just like nothing has been
installed. I've checked the control panel and there are no updates shown
here, but the windows updates history is fine. One of the updates failing is
896688.

This has been going on for several months now. However just today I got
notification that there was an update available for office 2002. So I
donwloaded and installed this without any problem. So why am I getting these
problems with respect to XP updates. I have looked through threads detailing
similar problems but to no avail.

Try Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB867461) Faulty Framework method is downloaded
,but does not show up in some add and removes, I hope you can find info in
this.
