Hi,
I'm running Windows XP Home SP2 and I'm having problems with installing KB905648: spamfilter in Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is published on 13-DEC-2005 on the website. Windows Update recommended to install this update, but I tried it 4 times without any luck. The message is something like "installation failed, please reboot to continue with the installation". After the reboot the installation automatically starts, but fails again. The Microsoft Update website is showing me error message 0x51F: please try to install this update again. But this doesn't help... All other updates I can/could install normally. Any idea how this could be solved? Thank you in advanced. |

You receive an "Installation Error: File not Found" or "Error 0x51F" error message
when you try to update Office 2003 programs from the Office Update Web site or the Office Download Center http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875556/en-us You may receive error 0x51F when you try to install an Office Updates. Applicable Office versions: Office 2003 http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...=en&IsMu=False Error code 0x51F – Apparently this occurs when Office Setup cannot locate the installation source because it’s either corrupted or deleted. Downloading the full update (KB905648: spamfilter in Microsoft Outlook 2003) may fix this problem. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en or Some have reported that placing the Office 2003 CD in the drive before trying to install the update also fixes the problem. Otherwise try repairing your installation of Office 2003 Method 1 – Open Word, go to Help – Select Detect and Repair or use Method 2 - 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click the Office 2003 program that you want to repair, and then click Change. 4. In the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box, click Reinstall or Repair, and then click Next. 5. In the Reinstall or Repair Office dialog box, click Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation, and then click Install. 6. When the repair process is finished, run the update again. Most likely you will need to have your Office 2003 CD handy. or http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Office 2003 Tool: Local Installation Source Tool Quick Description - The Local Installation Source Tool is a wizard to help manage your Local Installation Source (LIS) on computers running Microsoft Office 2003. Extract these files - LisTool.exe and LisTool.chm to a new folder of your choice and double click the LISTOOL.exe. Choose the Disable LIS option and click next. Select all the check boxes in the subsequent dialog. Then proceed to Finish. -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "Japers" <Japers@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:28AEFDC9-94DB-4FF9-9002-B161523E7343@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I'm running Windows XP Home SP2 and I'm having problems with installing > KB905648: spamfilter in Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is published on > 13-DEC-2005 on the website. > > Windows Update recommended to install this update, but I tried it 4 times > without any luck. Had the same problem. Inserting the CD for original Office 2003 install
solved the problem per TaurArian post. Thank TaurAiran for the assistance.
