Make sure that you have automatic updates turned on.
Make sure that the Remote Procedure Call Locator is not disabled: Click Start, select Run and type in: services.msc Locate " Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator". If it is disabled, then right click on it, go to 'Properties', change to 'manual' and Apply. Try Windows Update Again What causes Error 0x8ddd0018 http://www.updatexp.com/0x8ddd0018.html You receive a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page" error message when you try to install an update http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;883614 BITS could be disabled or not started. or:- Click Start, select Run In the Run box, type: regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll Click OK. Also do the same for these two DLLs : qmgr.dll qmgrprxy.dll After re-registering the dlls Check here:- Click Start, select Run, type: Regedit locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\wuauserv If you find a DeleteFlag value there, delete the DeleteFlag value. Note you can save the registry key first by: On the File menu, click Export. In the File name box, type SaveKey, and then click Save. Or create a system restore point prior to editing. http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;322756 How to back up, edit, and restore the registry in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "moondog" <moondog@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:22EE8502-3198-4BB5-9800-0FAE463D06EE@microsoft.com... > everytime I try I get error code 0x8ddd0018 what is this? and how do I > correct it? > the correction that windows give's is for win 98 I think and i'm running xp > with sp2, how do I get the the run box in xp? |

Right click on the task bar, click PROPERTIES, then click START MENU tab. Look for
the CUSTOMIZE button next to the start menu preference. Click on the ADVANCED tab and in the start menu options box look for the check box labelled RUN COMMAND and check the box, click OK.
