We were attempting to update all the systems with Win2000Pro from Microsofts
new update Dec 14th. Most all of our 2000 systems updated fine with the exception of 3. Now we are wondering maybe if this is a bug from Microsoft's update site. Need to know if anyone else is experiencing this. The 3 systems have never had any problem with updating before. There is nothing on MS KB yet but maybe because it is a new issue and not posted there yet. The error #: 0X80072F8F States: Date and time on computer varies too much from the valid date time of the SSL certificate used by windows update site. It gives resolution: #1 control panel make sure date and time are correct. I did this and it is. I also made sure that the time was reporting correctly by running cmd and date and time. #2 run regsvr32 softpub.dll. We did this and it said it succeded. We still can't update these 3 computers. Any ideas here? |

Ok found solution. Here it is for others to use:
#1 - Check to be sure that Date, Time and Zone are correct in Windows #2 - Re-Register these dll's: Start>Run segsvr32 mssip32.dll segsvr32 initpki.dll segsvr32 softpub.dll #3 - Open Internet Explorer SelectTools and then Internet Options Advance tab unselect 'check for server certificate revocation' reboot system No need to reboot if above did not have a check mark. Now try and do updates again. "markpenn" wrote: > We were attempting to update all the systems with Win2000Pro from Microsofts > new update Dec 14th.
