Getting "userdata persistence" error, the setting is already set to
"enable". I'm sure this isn't the problem, made sure BITS and AU service were started, checked the troubleshooting steps from update site, changed the default account for RPC to local system account, all to no avail. Any suggestions are welcome! T |

I have the same problem here that just started approx. Thursday (12/8/2005).
I have isolated it to a service pack 2 patch (most likey a recent one). I also have had two other symptoms occure: the disappearance of all my Network Connections icons (although the connections would still occure) and damage to my Norton Antivirus. I removed service pack 2 and everything was restored perfectly. I have been able to duplicate the problem and am now trying to isolate which patch it is. So far I have it down to one of the following patches: 896424, 900725, 905749, 901017, 899589, 902400, 890830, 905915, or 896423. Removed the .NET framework 1.1, .NET framework 1.1 fix, and .NET
framework 2.0 and updates started working again. Re-installed .NET framework 2.0 and updates still work. What a pain in the #@(! |

You'll still need .Net Framework 1.1 and the update.
