I have XP Pro SP2 with IE 6 SP2. As I am aware of, a lot of people have been
having this problem. I've tried all the suggestions on Microsoft, uninstalled all updates dated October and after, but the message still pops up as shown below: ------------------------- Please change your Internet Explorer security settings To save changes to your settings for this website, you need to enable userdata persistence for Internet Explorer. Complete the steps below, and then click Change settings to the left and try saving your changes again. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click the Security tab, click the Internet security zone icon, and then click Custom Level. In the Settings dialog box, scroll to the Miscellaneous section. Under Userdata persistence , select Enable. Click OK and when the security warning dialog box appears, click Yes. --------------------------------- Anyone have any other suggestions as to get onto the Microsoft Update page to scan for updates? Thanks. |

I had three machines with the same problem, and it took three different
fixes for each of them, no solutions were the same. On one, I had to remove the .NET framework 2.0 and re-install it. On another, I removed the user that was trying to do the update from the guests group. On another, I had to remove the .NET framework 1.1 hotfix and the .NET framework 1.1 itself. A true pain in the rear to be sure! Good luck! T |
