I have been trying to download updates for some time now. They quit doing it
automatically in October. Took it in and had them look at it at Best Buy where I bought my computer. The Geek on the Geek Squad managed to download them. I come home and once again can't do it. Keep getting error message 0x80072EFD The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. I have done all you have suggested and put every site known to microsoft update in my allow sites. Please help. Don't know what else to do. Would like to stay updated. (And in my Outlook Express it doesn't allow me to automatically go to sites when I click on them. I have to copy and paste, so please put in the web address when a response is given. Thank you) |

I have been having this problem for a couple of weeks and I followed the link
in this thread to http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;836941 and went to check the settings on my firewall and found that somehow some of my settings were blocking the update files that are needed to interact with Microsofts updates page. When I corrected these settings I went back over to the site and it worked just like it was supposed to.
