Default Transferring WSUS update files to another server..

Hi,

We have an 'old' WSUS server box with about 10 gigs of updates downloaded
from microsoft.com. This server will be replaced by a new server with a
fresh WSUS server installed. I have seen from the help that the updates
backup system is simply a filecopy of the updates folder.

If we install the WSUS server in the new computer, can we simply filecopy
all the updates from the old server to the new server's WSUS update folder?

Do we need to do some re-initialization to have the new server recognize
that it has got all the needed updates 'for free' and that it shouldn't
download it from microsoft.com?

Thanks for a quick reply on this issue

best regards

Geir

You might get a quicker response from the WSUS Newsgroup.
