I am having problems with my computer. What I tried to do is stop some
things from loading at start up and it looks like I've bunged up my computer. It lags terribly and everything is slowed about 20x. I have tried to re-install Windows XP from my original disk but it tells me that it cannot install it because the version on my computer is newer than that on the disk. Does anybody have any suggestions of what to do? People are telling me that I am going to need to re-format my computer because of some obviously critical windows components I may have deleted and even if I replaced them (and I'm unsure how to), Windows probably won't accept them. |

1. If you're installed SP 2 on your computer you'll need to slipstream your WinXP CD with the SP to
patch Some articles here to assist with that:- Autostreamer http://www.wbeta.com/comments.php?shownews=1063&catid=2 Instructions: http://www.simplyguides.net/guides/u...ostreamer.html Create a Slip Stream version of Windows XP http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/slipstream.htm http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsX...p2-bootcd.html Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Create Bootable CD http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=248 Creating a bootable Windows XP http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?act...showarticle=49 Universal Windows Slipstreaming and Bootable CD Guide freeware CD burning application http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ Service Pack 2 (SP2) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en 2. After slipstreaming your CD, then perhaps run SFC (System File Checker) this may assist in replacing missing or corrupt files Introduction to using scannow sfc (system file checker) http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html 3. Post back with further details on what you have actually done and maybe someone or myself may be able to assist you further. -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "Krysha" <Krysha@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F15C1950-E7EC-47BF-892E-CED53A86B8AA@microsoft.com... >I am having problems with my computer.
