We hadn't had internet since we got our computer 2 years ago. Just got
internet this Xmas for my daughter. After five days, it downloaded and installed service pack 5. When it finished and restarted it had wiped out the users (my 3 kids with limited access), the newly installed internet security package, the printers, cameras, etc... Everything needed to be reinstalled before it would work. And now, the internet connection which was so very fast for five whole days, is shoddy and hit and miss. Messages keep popping up saying the internet connection isn't found, please try again. How can this mess be fixed? And why did the service pack 5 wipe out everything and reset the computer without first warning us before installing itself? Debbie |

There is a SP5 for Windows NT, but if you downloaded that and managed to somehow install that under XP then you should wipe and re-install.. Bobby |

Since you are a user of this newsreader, can you please tell me what Microsoft CDO is? Orinello |

CDO = accessing this newsgroup via the web-interface instead of via a
newsreader (http://support.microsoft.com/newsgro... windowsupdate ). -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Orin Oríg wrote: <snip> > Since you are a user of this newsreader, can you please tell me what > Microsoft CDO is? |

Thank you Mr. Bear. That is very interesting.
I thought CDO means Collaborative Data Object. As I understand it, it is a different e-mail program designed for software developers. These people know how to configure the registry of a PC. If Miss Debbie can use Microsoft CDO, how come she has not accessed the interent for more than two years? That is really perplexing. Is it the same syndrome as a CDO user who does not know how to configure his dial-up modem? Well, I am not going to bust my teeny-weenie brain for this kind of big stuff. I might burn my New Years dinner pig roast. Happy New Year! Check all your brooms if they are working properly. Melinda may invite you for a New Year celebration at Redmond, Wa. (Sorry Harry, Melinda does not want you in that party.)
