All my Security Updates wil not Install keep on saying Installation Failure.
can any one help with this.

uninstall windows installer 3.1 in add/remove programs

however after this, there will be a few updates you won't be able to get
uintil ms fixes 3.1

Thanks for that but it did not work I uninstalled windows installer 3.1.
rebooted tryed the updates same thing.

No, you cannot update after this until MS fixes it.

The above step is to allow installing any software you were unable to
install.

Windows updates are broken period.
I confirmed this and based on the hundreds of postings here, it also backs
my conclusion.

Are you referring to 3.1 version 2?

> Found this on the microsoft site got all the security updates to work this is the following link follow the on screen instructions or I did the following RENAME THE CATROOL2 FOLDER
Click start, click run type CMD in the open box and then OK
type in the following
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatrool2
net start cryptsvc
exit
