Default Microsoft Critical updates

I cannot get on the website to receive the critical updates. As soon as I
click on that website, something about Administrators comes up and blocks the
area where I wouls normally enter to get the updates. What is the problem?
What can I do? This is so surprising to me. Please do something to help me
to get those critical updates. Thank You. my computer is a Windows 98.
Winston.

Short answer: Try this patch & reboot.

- http://patch-info.de/IE/Downloads/OLEfix.zip, or

(a small VB app that checks the 4 values and offers a repair option if any
of them are incorrect).
