I can't install about 20 updates to Windows 2000 Professional due to an
error, 0x8007F00B. The error appears to mean "Could not locate entry for HAL.DLL in SETUP.LOG to determine type of HAL to update." I don't have a clue how to resolve this issue. |

Nick,
I hope you can find the answer to this. I have the same problem but Microsoft support cannot understand what the problem is. I have been to the wall with those people. If you can find the answer, let me know. This problem exists on Windows Media Center on my machine. therefore, it is a problem on many computers. There seems to be some relation to a file called HAL.dll that actually causes the failures. I'm lost on how to fix. Maybe someone else will see this and help both of us. It gets worse!
Now the system refuses to start up at all, saying that it can't find a system description file. Joy. The system is offering to let me install a new OS, which it wants to do on a clean partition. Not good. "J Maddy" wrote: > Nick, > I hope you can find the answer to this. I have the same problem but > Microsoft support cannot understand what the problem is.
