Hi,
For several weeks, I have been unable to use the current version 6 of Update. Within a few seconds of selecting either Custom or Express, I got a message saying that there was a problem, and giving me a list of places and things to check. None worked, nor the many suggestions here. I subscribe to the Microsoft download notifications E-mail, and in the latest one noticed this: Download Web Services Enhancements 3.0 for Microsoft .NET <http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=4361704> This add-on to the .NET Framework 2.0 is designed to help build secure Web services using the latest security protocols. Since the failure update failures began around the time I installed Framework 2.0, and having little to loose, I downloaded the update. It is about 10M, and when I ran it, selected only the runtime files. Sure enough, the next time I ran Update it worked perfectly. It seems to have fixed whatever was broken. -- Alan |

I tried this but it didn't work (see my problem below); in fact I couldn't
run this download because I don't have Microsoft.Net Framework installed - probably one of the hundreds of Failed Updates I had for the last 4 months!!
