Default XP Service Pack 3

When attempting to download the following updates (either via Automatic
Downloads or via the website), I am prompted to insert the Windows XP Small
Business disk. The problem is that I have Windows XP Professional. I have
tried putting this disk in instead, but (perhaps not surprisingly) the
necessary file cannot be found.

Office 2002/XP Office XP Service Pack 3 02 January 2006 Microsoft Update
website
Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB887742) 02 January 2006 Microsoft
Update website
Windows XP Security Update for Windows XP (KB885250) 02 January 2006
Microsoft Update website

I have successfully installed "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool
(KB892130)".

Does anybody know what the problem is?

Many thanks and a Happy New Year

You are being asked for your Office XP CD.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have already tried this and the update does not work. I had assumed it
was because I was being asked to insert the "Small Business" disc, and I was
inserting the XP that I have, which is "Professional".

The message received is that a file cannot be found.

Thanks again for your post.

Try repairing your Office XP program by either method below - you will need your original Office XP
disc. Leave the CD in the installation drive in case the patch requires it.

Method 1 – Open Word, go to Help – Select Detect and Repair

or use Method 2 -

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Click the Office program that you want to repair, and then click Change.
4. In the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box, click Reinstall or Repair, and then click Next.
5. In the Reinstall or Repair Office dialog box, click Detect and Repair errors in my Office
installation, and then click Install.
6. When the repair process is finished, run the update again
