Hi I'm trying to install the updates Update for Windows XP (KB898461)
Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) but they won't install.
But it says I need these updates. How do I rectify this problem?

Is it possible that you're using Panda as an antivirus?
If so, everyone using Panda seems to have this problem.
Just go to http://www.fermu.com/content/view/197/37/lang,us/, click on the
link for Panda-users, install the right hotfix and restart your computer.
Then it should work.
Note: this is only for if you're using Panda Titanium Antivirus

I've been participating on another thread with Matt and he has helped alot of
people with Panda. But, the hotfix he sent you will probably not work with
your Platinum edition...it didn't with mine Platinum 2005 edition, anyway. I
ended up downloading the Platinum 2005 update (whole program) via the
download selection from the home page of pandasoftware.com. You might check
the thread on this user forum entitled "080200010" with 13 posts right now...

Hi there,
as the matter of fact there are 2 hotfixes provided on the link I gave. One
of them is only made for the Platinum edition, I hope you tried it before
going the whole tour on updating your Panda ;-)
Anyway, glad you worked out your way and found an alternative solution.

I am NOT using that and have this problem, as do thousands of other people
not using it.
