You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office 2003 by using Software
Update Services http://support.microsoft.com/?id=903772 -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "fkosmakos" <fkosmakos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E8861665-4302-445B-B08A-B9376B61CBBD@microsoft.com... >I continually get a failed to update on KB95648(MS OUTLOOK e-mail filter) > with code 0x80070643. If that was a question, then "Yes". I have automatic updates and it tries to
update several timess a day. Somehow I got to a place that shows the times and dates of updates, plus those failed and this one for e-mail filters failed dozen of times and the site gave this error. I did as you suggested and carried out 2 of the first three options. Neither
worked; in fact, I copied and pasted OSE, but I got an error message when I tried. I had to rename and move OSE before I could copy and paste. Before I do #3(remove Outlook 2003), the site I was directed did not relate to the error code I received KB 905648 "TaurArian [MS-MVP]" wrote: > Click on the link I provided for more information on this problem. > http://support.microsoft.com/?id=903772 > > -- > =========================== > TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 > =========================== > > > "fkosmakos" <fkosmakos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:6E88ADDF-43F9-4DE0-BF10-9E70030C1393@microsoft.com... > > If that was a question, then "Yes". If you are concerned about your files - back them up including email addresses etc.
Using the Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup tool http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...roduct=out2003 Check point - Click Start, select Run, type: services.msc click OK Is the Office Source Engine service set to “Manual” in the “Startup Type”? Also, is the Windows Installer Service is set to “Manual” in the “Startup Type”?. If not, set them to Manual and try the Update again. If they set to Manual, then perhaps look at repairing/reinstalling Office 2003. Options: Download the full file and try and install it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en If that fails try repairing your installation of Office 2003 Method 1 - Open Outlook, go to Help – Select Detect and Repair You might need your Office CD handy. or Method 2 - 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click the Office 2003 program that you want to repair, and then click Change. 4. In the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box, click Reinstall or Repair, and then click Next. 5. In the Reinstall or Repair Office dialog box, click Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation, and then click Install. 6. When the repair process is finished, run the update again. You might need your Office CD handy. Otherwise you will have to remove and reinstall Office You may need to download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to assist you in cleaning up after Office 2003 and any other redundant office programs. Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;290301 Windows Installer Cleanup Utility http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...BD/msicuu2.exe You'll also need your Office CD and Product Code etc before attempting a removal and reinstallation, don't forget to back up first any personal files just in case. -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "fkosmakos" <fkosmakos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BAD3C162-04BE-4090-8A60-A96AC45770E7@microsoft.com... > #2: If i remove Outlook, will it only remove software and leave e-amil > addresses etc???// > > "TaurArian [MS-MVP]" wrote: > >> Click on the link I provided for more information on this problem. >> http://support.microsoft.com/?id=903772 >> >> -- >> =========================== >> TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 >> =========================== >> >> >> "fkosmakos" <fkosmakos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:6E88ADDF-43F9-4DE0-BF10-9E70030C1393@microsoft.com... >> > If that was a question, then "Yes".
