I last managed to update on 8 Nov but since has been stuck on 'checking for
updates'. I tried this solution but on the first command I get the message that the service can not be paused or stopped. Any further suggestions - please........ Any further suggestions - > please........ > Denise Instead of reopening old threads try a search? <w> Search in Google Groups for better retention of old messages http://groups.google.com/group/micro...42662e449822b0 (Google Groups search for wuauserv "cannot be stopped" - in this newsgroup ) That's a suggestion to reboot in safe mode (since that should prevent the service from running) and then perform the regsvr32 commands, which is the main reason for stopping the service. Another more complicated but possibly more complete suggestion is available (indirectly) via the same search. HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |
