Dual booting will not make your pc run slower UNLESS both copies of Windows
are installed to the same partition.

How many drives show up in My Computer?
If you see more than one hard drive, is there a windows folder on at least 2
of the drives?
if the 2 copies are installed to separate partitions it is fairly easy to
edit boot.ini to remove reference to the second OS.
If they are installed to the same partition you can still remove the
references, but the best bet is a clean install because you have a mixture
of file versions in the system folders.

Hi blondie,

You need to have just one OS or you need to have the drive partitioned and
each OS installed to it's own partition.

Unfortunately there is no simple step by step to doing an OS install. Well
there is,but it is not something I recommend for a novice user. You can read
the guide at http://winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp and see
why I don't recommend attempting this yourself unless you are really
comfortable with it.

Sometimes it is easier (and cheaper in the long run) to take the pc to a
professional to get it serviced. They can also diagnose the problems with the
PC being slow while they are repairing it and make recommendations for
speeding it up.
