Try using System Restore in Windows XP to restore your Windows XP back to
normal. Here how you do this: Go Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools Scroll down and click on System Restore icon. This will start System Restore program. Now select the option Restore my computer to an earlier time. Then click Next button. There is a calendar to the left side. Find a day in the month that your control panel was working normally. You can only pick the dark blue numbers that are the restore points where Windows XP has made a recovery point because of your Windows system has changed because of software and/or hardware changes . When you click on one of the dark blue numbers the day is highlighted in blue. Find a dark blue number that has the time and the description of the system change either software installed or uninstalled or hardware installed or hardware removed. Pick the one that is appropriate and click next and follow the instructions on the screen. That should restore your Windows XP system back to normal. You can also create a restore point when there are no software or hardware installed. Do this by: Go Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools Scroll down and click on System Restore icon. This will start System Restore program. Now select the option Create a restore point. Then click the Next button Enter a name or description of the Restore point and then click Create. Then follow the instructions on the screen. Then your created Windows Restore point is done. Hope this helps you.
