On start up I get the following message:
"DirectCD Roxio inc will cause windows to become unstable Windows has prevented these drivers from loading click here for more details" I then click bubble for further info where it tells me 'a driver installed that causes instability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled please contact driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of windows' (Windows XP Pro) I click onto roxio.com link and try to find the 'patch' to solve my problem and cannot find anything which relates to this. I have uninstalled all Roxio products but this is a Sonic driver which I think might be the problem as when playing DVDs it does seem unstable. Can anyone please help? Sonic is a part of Roxio. Go here: http://www.roxio.com/ and click on
support and see if you can find anything by clicking "Ask [various female names]". You must be dealing with fairly old software/hardware as I cound not find anything called DirectCD on the Roxio/Sonic sites. There many driver sites on the web so I suggest that you get the make and model of your hardware and first check the manufacturers site for a XP compatible driver. If not successful there, just type "driver for [make and model]" to see if you can find help. -- Gene K "Antonio" <Antonio@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AE495295-B465-41AE-B60B-A17790D6CD58@microsoft.com... > On start up I get the following message: > "DirectCD Roxio inc will cause windows to become unstable Windows has > prevented these drivers from loading click here for more details" I then > click bubble for further info where it tells me 'a driver installed that > causes instability problems with your system. Thank you kindly for you help I think I can deal with this problem now (I hope)
I did go to the Roxio site but I might find what I need on Sonic, anyhow I will try to sort it out. I had a chap here putting in a new computer for my missus and he could not get rid of the message or down load the patch required !!
