Default Shared Drives disappear after reboot

Until recently I have had absolutely not problems with my setup. I have a
“central” PC with a few external Lacie 500Gb drives attached, and these
drives shared via normal XP Pro file and drive sharing.

However, recently I am having problems with this, and basically after a
reboot, the drives are no longer shared. I then have to share them again, and
all works fine. When I share these drives, I set up access to be limited to a
specific user account, with all access, and I always delete remove the
“everybody” access.

In the Event Viewer there is nothing out of the ordinary.

Please give me some things to check, this is driving me crazy.

The "Everyone" group is a tricky one. It includes everyone - limited users
and administrators a like. A lot of snafus can occur if you tweak
permissions/security settings the wrong way with this group. One way to
avoid many troubles is to require passwords for user accounts as this will
side step "anonymous" issues.

If you visit the Windows XP Support Center here:
http://support.microsoft.com
and search for "everyone," you'll get a long list of more examples and
issues. Here's just a few of the articles related to this topic:
