I have seen this behavior with some application programs where the data files are always saved directly to a removable disk (e.g. a 3.5 diskette). Ron Martell Duncan B.C. I had to carefully check when and how this message appears.
1. The machine must be running for 3-4 hours 2.The problem occurs on start up of the programm 3. The programm does not look for a hard drive or a specific drive. Just put a disk into the drive. Data files are saved in the hard disk. 4. The programms I have this problem are: First page 2000 (html editor), Ghostview and FontViewr. Does your computer's BIOS setup support S.M.A.R.T. monitoring for the hard drive? If so, is this active? Many computers are shipped with S.M.A.R.T. capable BIOS but with this function disabled in the BIOS setup. Also check the hard drive manufacturer's web site for a drive testing utility. Some manufacturer's have a Windows based test utility. If one is available for your make of drive then download and install it and run it when the errors are actually happening.
