I recently posted the same error msg while using Fast User Switching with XP.
This problem could be caused by either Google tool bar, or Add-ons to IE, and these need to be dis-abled. Go to View > Toolbar > and then un-check Google Toolbar. Close out of IE and reboot the computer, and you should be able to re-launch IE normally. If that doesn't work try the following: Goto Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-ons. You will see a list of add-on services\files that are running within IE. You will need to review and selectively dis-able those add-ons that are not needed. It's hunt and peck time, and you may need to dis-able all of the add-ons and then re-enable one at a time. Be careful.
