You can boot in to safe mode (Pree F8 right after the boot up screen)

Do this by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the right menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here. Once in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account. The default password is a blank. In XP Pro, you do not need to go into Safe Mode. At the Welcome Screen, do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" and whatever password you assigned when you set up Windows. Thank you It is not possible to delete the built-in Administrator account. You still haven't said which version of XP you have, but I'm going to assume it is Home Edition. Go into Safe Mode per previous instructions. When you get to the Welcome Screen, do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice and you will get the classic Windows logon box. Now type in "Administrator" (without the quotes) and leave the password blank. Now you should be logged into the Administrator account where you can manage all user accounts from the User Accounts applet in Control Panel. In your next post back, please tell us what the virus/malware status of the computer was. Did you have a full-featured antivirus installed? Was it a current version (not earlier than 2004) with an active subscription and updated virus definitions? Also tell us what version of XP you have - Home or Pro. Ok i did that and there were two accounts in there one said just
administrator and the other one had my name by the word administrator but neither of them would let me get into them. I have no spy/malware found and i am using Xp home with Nortons 2005 fully updated with an active subscription Betty "Malke" wrote: > boopygirl wrote: > > > Right I did that but it aint in there either. What does "neither of them would let me get into them" really mean? What happens when you try? Remember that I cannot see your computer from here and please be more descriptive if you want help from this newsgroup. If you find it difficult to explain exactly what is happening, what changed between the time things worked, etc. - and that's OK, not everyone is good with writing and it is hard to write about technical things if you don't know the terms - then take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA). Someone who can actually see the computer and work with it hands-on has a much better chance of fixing it quickly than people who are only reading a sketchy account of the problems. The default is usually a blank but if you or someone else changed it, you can change it to a blank with a program called NTpasswd. I don't know if this will be more than you can do (and again, I'm not saying this to insult you - it does take some computer skill to create the boot disk and use NTpasswd), but here is the link: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ Otherwise, I think you should take the machine to a computer professional and just go do something else while they deal with it. It would be really nice to know what eventually solved this problem.
