Default Mouse Button Option - change to one click

I can't get the click option to work. Rather the double click the left mouse
button to activate an icon I want to single click.

I think I am doing it right...but it still requires a double click

Since you didn't tell us how you are doing it... The usual way is from
Folder Options. Here's an MS Knowledge Base article that describes the
process:
