Default using tv as monitor

I am using XP Pro on an IBM laptop. How do I connect the laptop to my tv set
show I can show pictures to a group of people?

Try a Google search for "Scan Converters".

On the back of your laptop there should be a circular connector with
seven little holes and on larger rectangle hole. This is your S-Video
out port. The symbol will be a little TV with rabbit ears. You connect
it to your S-Video In port on your TV. Then you read the applicable
user manuals.

Consult the manual that came with the laptop to see if it has such a
capability. If it does, it will have an S-Video connector and may even
have included the necessary cable in its case.
