I have Microsoft Outlook 2003 as my default email manager. Every time I
start up my PC, and get onto the Windows XP log on screen, it says I have 1 unread email message in my inbox, but I clealry don't! I haven't got any unread ones in any folder! How can I get rid of this - it is very irritating! Thanks. |

It does go haywire from time to time. Peter Posting from Peter Rogers Replace NOSPAM with ntlworld to reply |

Seriously, you can hose your system if you do something wrong. The easy and safe way to remove the Unread Mail message is by downloading and installing the TweakUI Power Tool from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx There is a setting in TweakUI to turn off the Unread Mail message on the logon screen. Look in all of your Outlook folders.. if you have a folder with a (1)
attached to it, that is where your unread mail is.. -- Mike Hall MVP - Windows Shell/User "Geoff A." <geoffashton@DELETEdsl.pipex.com> wrote in message news:e4JKiLuCGHA.532@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... >I have Microsoft Outlook 2003 as my default email manager. You wouldn't by chance have a Hotmail or MSN account through which you
access Windows Messenger? What account does the hotlink (you have 1 unread... is actually a hotlink and will tell you which account has the unread mail) say is the offending mail account when you click on it?
