Default START MENU SENSITIVITY TIME

-- When I go to my Start Menu and Programes and put my mouse over a programe
to open up its files has changed from about a second to now about 8 seconds.
I have read the help in the forums and have tried their suggestions of
windows tweak and changing the hover time of the mouse but this doesn't
work. I also bought System mechanic and gone to start menu reaction speed
this is set to 4832 miliseconds delay time I have reset this to the slowest
and restartin computer as it suggets but on restart and checking the speed it
right back to when I started. Can anyone please suggest another way of
changing the speed of my reaction time in the Start Menu. Thanks in advance
for any help. Terry

Change the Speed of the Start Menu

Start | Run | Type: regedit | Click OK |
Navigate to >>>
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \
Value Name: MenuShowDelay
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 400
(Values are all in milliseconds. 0 is the fastest, 400 is default.
A setting of 0 is virtually instantaneous.) I have mine set at 92.

Log off, or restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Or use TweakUI...

TweakUI
[+] Mouse

[[The Menu Speed slider control sets the speed at which cascading menus
automatically open when you move the mouse over them. The fastest setting
causes them to open immediately and the slowest setting is extraordinary
slow.]]

Download TweakUI here >>>

Create a restore point.

Launch Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, and make sure
MenuShowDelay (right pane) is set to the number of milliseconds you want
Windows to wait before opening the menu.

If an error message pops up ("Cannot edit MenuShowDelay: Error writing the
value's new contents") when you try to change the number, right-click
"Desktop" (left pane) and select "Permissions...": click "Advanced",
double-click your account and make sure "Set Value" is set to "Allow."
