Hi,
Yep, that indicates that the system is booting from the first partition on the first drive. I *think* (and am still working on proving) that this has to do with the initial drive enumeration achieved during setup. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "bearman" <noyb@home.com> wrote in message news:KYqdna8eS6o5VOreRVn-pA@comcast.com... > > Here is the boot.ini file. > > [boot loader] > timeout=1 > default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S > [operating systems] > multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home > Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn > > B > > > "Rick "Nutcase" Rogers" <rick@mvps.org> wrote in message > news:%23VjppWK6FHA.2036@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... >> Curious, but it indicates that the installation "believes" that the boot >> (in ms terms: system) partition is C:. >> >> -- >> Best of Luck, >> >> Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP >> http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ >> Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone >> www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone >> Windows help - www.rickrogers.org >> >> "bearman" <noyb@home.com> wrote in message >> news:rJWdnWYUrLpsXereRVn-vg@comcast.com... >>> >>> Boot.ini shows up in msconfig. >>> >>> >>> "Rick "Nutcase" Rogers" <rick@mvps.org> wrote in message >>> news:O7GT1jJ6FHA.808@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... >>>> Hi, >>>> >>>> Copy (not Move) it to C:, what happens then? >>>> >>>> -- >>>> Best of Luck, >>>> >>>> Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP >>>> http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ >>>> Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone >>>> www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone >>>> Windows help - www.rickrogers.org >>>> >>>> "bearman" <noyb@home.com> wrote in message >>>> news:s--dndgtY6lpCOreRVn-qQ@comcast.com... >>>>> >>>>> "Rick "Nutcase" Rogers" <rick@mvps.org> wrote in message >>>>> news:uLHNH9E6FHA.1140@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... >>>>>> Do you have multiple drives/volumes?
