XP PRO problem

Default XP PRO problem

HI hi have a toshiba lapotop pc it originaly came with winXP home.
i have installed XP pro on it. and joine dit to a network.
when i log on to the network my Start button will not work. the only way
that i can access any programs is to click on the my computer icon on my
desktop then locate the program i want to use. if i log on to the laptop
Localy the laptop works fine does anyone know what would cause this to
happen
