My desktop is cluttered and I am considering performing the Remove unused desktop icons procedure given in the Help and Support area. I have not yet run the Desktop Cleanup Wizzard. Under Notes, the procedure says: "You can retrieve icons you have removed by opening the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder on your desktop. " However, I cannot locate a folder that is named Unused Desktop Shortcuts. I am hesitant and concerned about retrieving certain icons that have not been used within 60 days after I have performed the procedure and the Cleanup Wizzard. Please tell me where I can find the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder. A simple Search/Find did not locate that folder. Thanks. |

The Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder is created by the Remove Unused Items
from your Desktop Wizard. once you have run it the folder will be on the desktop. In other words, the procedure itself creates that folder. Also, understand that all it does is move the shortcuts. The underlying programs are not affected. If they put themselves in the Start menu, as nearly all programs do, they'll still be there after the desktop cleanup. -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://OakRoadSystems.com/ "If there's one thing I know, it's men. The Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder is created when you run the wizard.
You can do this procedure yourself. Create a folder by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting New -> Folder. Name it whatever you like. Then, you can just drag and drop (holding down the left mouse button and dropping it in the folder) the icons that you don't use very often to this folder. When needed, double-click on the folder, and it will open so you can select the icons.
