Default Open Single Pane in Windows Explorer

I want to open Windows Explorer with just a single pane. No "System
Tasks..Other Places..Details", no "Folder View", not anything on the left.
Just one single window pane with my files listed. I've read in

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=314853 and
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=307856

that the /n switch on explorer.exe is supposed to open a "new single-pane
Window", but it doesn't.

I'm running Windows XP x64.

Thanks,

Kevin

You have to turn Common Tasks off.

Start | Run | Type: control folders | Click OK |
General tab | Select Use Windows classic folders |
Click Apply | Click OK

Now try...

%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /n

Windows Explorer should open with a single pane, unless you click on the
Folders icon to display the tree view.

To hide the common tasks pane:

Open Folder Options in Control Panel. On the General tab, under Tasks,
uncheck Show common tasks in folders.

So Simple. That did the trick.

You're welcome.

BTW, there was a small mistake in my post. The "Show common tasks in
folders" is actually a radio-button and not a checkbox. Refer Wesley's post
for detailed info.
