I don't want to put them into the quick launch area, I want to put them into
the system tray next to the clock! Why? That is the notification area used by Windows to tell you when certain
programs are running in the background (if the developer has designed the program to place an icon there). They are programs and services "at the ready." Even if you could, just putting an icon there will not run it's program in the background. The Quick Launch Toolbar is the place for programs you want to run "from scratch" without having to minimize your windows to get to the desktop or call from the All Programs menu. You cannot send an icon of your choosing to the notification area. You can change settings on some of the programs that do appear in the notification area so that their icons do not appear there (such as the volume control icon). That does not, however, close the program or service. -- Colin Barnhorst [MVP Windows - Virtual Machine] (Reply to the group only unless otherwise requested) "GLONMO" <GLONMO@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:729F7850-6EDB-4DB9-99CB-FC15705AA281@microsoft.com... >I don't want to put them into the quick launch area, I want to put them >into > the system tray next to the clock! > > "Jim Macklin" wrote: > >> Right click the taskbar, select toolbars..quick >> launch...then just right click and drag icons there and use >> copy here. >> >> >> -- >> The people think the Constitution protects their rights; >> But government sees it as an obstacle to be overcome. >> some support >> http://www.usdoj.gov/olc/secondamendment2.htm >> >> >> >> "GLONMO" <GLONMO@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:3332D869-6130-4440-85A6-5C0430BEB83A@microsoft.com... >> | How can I put program icons into the system tray/taskbar >> (in the area near >> | the clock and audio icons)? >> >> >> |
