Default RE reinstalling windows XP

Thanks for the assistance. A ups are rare here and expensive, specially with
import tax but I am on to it (Northern Cyprus), I followed all the
instructions and re-installed my legit copy of XP pro, but there are still
problems. the search facility does not respond, and many of the tools in the
control panel do not respond, although I can see the control panel again. New
programs loaded simply do not work ... usual 'prog not reponding message'.
The computer hangs every hour or so if I ask it to do more than one task. It
seems that a clean install is the only answer, but does anyone know what
files I ought to locate and save ( to replace later) to maintain my playlists
in WMP9? All music is on a separate drive. I have located the playlists file
and saved it elsewhere, and the 'currentdatabase_59r.wmdb file' for media
player that I found in documents and setings under my name ... the latter
file is 98688kb in size. I have also got my address book and the OE settings
saved alsewhere, but it the media player settings I would like to keep, (to
save a lot of typing and work). For some reason the computer hates Nero being
onboard. I recently installed symmantec NAV 2006 ... could this be the
problem? I cannot use system restore to go back to before NAV because all
restore points were lost, but since the re-install last night new restore
pints are being created.

Default RE: RE reinstalling windows XP

Well youre not suppose to "reinstall windows xp" in IE,if thats the way you
went.To save settings, documents,WMP files, etc run the file transfer wizard,
set as old computer, select data, save data in a new folder, once data is saved,
move folder to cd.The only way to install xp and gain some benifits is a
clean
install.
