Hi Theresa,
Install java for Internet Explorer here: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Theresa" <Theresa@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:18AED698-DA09-4DA1-876D-7C3C22E7D811@microsoft.com... > Hi, I just got this new puter and during set up it asked what browser we > use. > After reading it the puter suggested we turn off the netscape browser > stuff. > Now i want to go to Pogo and it is not working and java says I need to add > the netscape and Mozzilla(?) If you do, there will be an applet for Java in the Control Panel. If you don't have Java, download and install it from http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp. I believe the question asked of you was whether or not you wanted Internet Explorer to be the default browser. If "turn off the netscape" does not mean you uninstalled Netscape and you have that program, try Pogo with Netscape. If you uninstalled Netscape from Add/Remove Programs, then try installing Firefox from www.mozilla.org. Firefox is a better browser than Netscape. A browser is software that allows you to "see" the Internet. You can have many different browsers installed on Windows with no problem. On one of my Windows machines I have Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla, and Firefox. You may want to have a knowledgeable friend or family member (one who is *really* knowledgeable and not just saying s/he is) come over and help you. Ok I reinstalled the Java and still nothing. The bottom of the screen that is
trying to open says "Applet com.pogo.jvmtest.Applet started" After it has that for a while the screen goes away and I get a bigger screen that says Java not found or not working. I think I have everrything right in my EZ Armour. I put green checks down the Pogo side. Any other ideas? I am beginning to not like my new puter! Thank you -- www.lampshadesplus.biz "Malke" wrote: > Theresa wrote: > > > Hi, I just got this new puter and during set up it asked what browser > > we use. I have tried netscape. It is the same thing. I get no where. My brother
thought it might be a plugin problem? (This is a new computer) I have found a few more sites I can't get into. It is getting very frustrating! I can get around on the net and download but I know nothing about plug ins or anything else. Can anyone please help? Thank you.... -- www.lampshadesplus.biz "Malke" wrote: > Theresa wrote: > > > Ok I reinstalled the Java and still nothing. I have done Netscape, firefox and Explorer. Nothing works. Dell says it is an
system operating problem or a software problem. From what I can see. It might have to do with the way we set up the computer. This is a new computer. At one point when we were setting it up it asked us if we wanted to use explorer, or netscape. (They suggested we click explorer only.) When I go into the java console it tells me to put a check in netscape. I do that and then I get a screen that says I am not autherized to change browser settings. I am the owner how can I not be allowed? I think if I can add that check to the box I might be fine but I need to change the broswer setting. Please help! thank you -- www.lampshadesplus.biz "OF" wrote: > Try Firefox. Works fine with me. > > > |
