Default Diary?

I would like a diary which would pop up now and again to remind me of things
I need to do on a particular day.

Is there such a thing available in Windows XP?

Alan

Not in the operating system. MS Works or Outlook have got calendaring
capabilities, or just Google for something like "calendar reminder
software":

Go here for Stickies (just like the post-it notes you put on your fridge).

No. However there are many choices of programs to do that, both from
Microsoft and from third-party vendors. Personally I use Microsoft Outlook,
which has this among its many capabilities.

Aside of what others suggested already, you can use Task Manager to open
whatever text files you write as you diary... might be too tedious and w/
less options when compared w/ Sticky Notes or others, though.
