System Restore is a function within Windows to recover from system errors,
and does not affect documents created by you.. system recovery is a process
utilising the media supplied by the computer vendor to completely re-instate
the system 'back to factory' .. what you did was a system recovery, hence
the disappearance of your own files..

There are programs that can recover files lost in this way, but they do not
guarantee 100% success, and require some aptitude on the part of the
operator.. if you have really important files that you would like to get
back, do not use your computer until you have taken it to a file recovery
specialist, or a reputable computer technician..
