I have a client with a Dell running Windows XP Home SP2 that gets an error
message "WMI has encountered a problem...". It seems to be associated with Windows Update. If auto updates are enabled, the message seems to appear each time Windows XP checks for updates. Even when trying to do manual updates, the Windows Update process gets "hung up" and can not be completed. I have tried some Google searches, but couldn't find anything that seems to be a similar problem. Hopefully, some one in this newsgroup has encountered the same problem and knows of a fix. I have tried to follow instruction to rebuild the Repository, but I can not delete some of the files. Any help would be appreciated. Joe G. Dearborn |

Perhaps he has denied something needed by Windows Updates. Otherwise, you might try posting in a newsgroup for Windows Updates issues.
