Default laptop power options

When I have my laptop on AC power windows automatically Dims the screen and
when i put it onto battery power windows automatically Brightens the screen.

Shouldn't this be the other way round? Aparently it is something windows
does but you cant change. i would be quite happy if this as working the right
way round. But it wastes power when on battery and conserves it when running
AC power.

I have tried configuring all the power setting but it doesn't seem to make
any difference.

is there a 3rd party power management feature that i may be able to use to
correct this?

can anyone help me switch the screen dimming to be the correct way round.

As far as I can see on my machine here, the laptop stores different
brightness states for power/battery. Check the manual for about how to
adjust the settings. Usually this is done with a special function key
and another key pressed at the same time.
