C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft Help\ is HUGE
(MSDN indexes) is there any way to move it to another partition ? This would save me a repartitioning. |

Hi
That's from the MSDN CD/DVDs that you've installed? I always install those onto a different partition. You'll have to uninstall then reinstall onto a different partition. You can't just move them - unfortunately. -- Will Denny MS MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "Michel de Becdelièvre" <m_debec@msn.com> wrote in message news:eFS6GmY9FHA.3208@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft Help\ is > HUGE (MSDN indexes) > > is there any way to move it to another partition ? I already installed them in a different partition (D:\Program Files\MSDN\MSDN8.0), sadly MSDN build the indexes dynamically at the end of the installation process in "All Users" whatever you do. It eats 368Mb for the indexes of VS.Net professional. I was wondering if there was any way to move them, but the path is nowhere in the registry, so I fear a hardcoded path. (by the way these files are apparently NOT erased when you remove previous versions of MSDN, so I originally ended up with more than 770Mb of wasted space). It is the single biggest hit on the C: partition behind C:\WINDOWS (4.5 Gb, more than one third from ServicePackFiles and Installer) and C:\Program Files\Common Files\ (830Mb), it ought to be movable. |
