G'day to all.
I have a Nvidia audio chip set. I've installed all the appropriate drivers (Driver Manager reports evrything is fine - in other words no Red Xess, Question Marks or Exclamation Marks). BUT, I have no sound! I've checked with different speakers, head sets and the like. Interestingly enuff, when in Control Panel, all my options are grayed out (i.e. disabled). I've talked with Nvidia and we've gone thru lots of things (even replaced Nvidia Graphics card, tried different drivers). Nada. I then spent about 2 hours with HP (it's a Pavillian 522C) - still NADA. Any Ideas? OH BTW: Windows XP Home, Latest SP etc. No viruses, Trojans or related Spyware. Hmmm -- Wiley Credo: Let people think you're a fool, rather than open mouth and remove all doubt! |

Thanks Wes, no go. I did (before using this REG fix) check the Windows audio
subsystem and it was running. I restarted etc., but still no go. Any others??? Thanks.. -- Wiley Credo: Let people think you're a fool, rather than open mouth and remove all doubt! Problem was an MS Update for an NVidia driver (how trustworthy is that?). I
rolled the driver back, reinstalled the "Real Good" audio driver and VOLIA! Cheers. -- Wiley Credo: Let people think you're a fool, rather than open mouth and remove all doubt! Thanks for posting back.
You probably know this now, but never use a Microsoft hardware driver. Get the drivers from whatever company website. -- Hope this helps. Let us know.
